About the presentation: 

In this CEU course, we will be exploring the core principles of ethics, different ethical paradigms and their application in decision-making, and discussing the importance of understanding relevant laws and reporting processes when it comes to ethical concerns. We will also examine the historical events and ethical dilemmas that have shaped the development of ethics codes in behavior analysis over time.

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will be able to determine what defines an ethical dilemma in ABA
  • Participants will be able to identify the historical events that resulted in the creation of the first ethical codes in ABA
  • Participants will be able to determine potential environmental variables that contribute to ethical decision-making (or unethical decisions)
  • Participants will be able to identify issues related to common ethical philosophies when applied in practice
  • Participants will be able to select the most common influence on ethical decision-making from a normative perspective, rather than a descriptive perspective
  • Participants will be able to determine how the Belmont report was developed and how it is integrated into ethics codes in ABA
  • Participants will be able to identify considerations, steps, and resources for filing ethical complaints

About the presenter:
