Dr. Andy Lattal discusses historical tools used in behavior analysis. Dr. David Baker presents the background of the Center for the History of Psychology in Akron, Ohio and discusses the possibility of adding behavior analysis to the museum in the future.
About the presenters:
Dr. Andy Lattal is the Centennial Professor of Psychology at West Virginia University (WVU). He received his Ph.D. degree in psychology from the University of Alabama and joined the WVU faculty in 1972. Lattal’s research, conducted primarily with nonhuman animals, has focused on many facets of behavior analysis, including the role of the response-reinforcer relation in learning and maintenance of responding, delay of reinforcement, the effects and side-effects of non-reinforcement, self-awareness in animals, punishment, and how behavioral histories of different kinds affect current learning.
David B. Baker is the Margaret Clark Morgan Executive Director of the Center for the History of Psychology and professor of psychology. He received his Ph.D. in 1988 from Texas A & M University. He is a fellow of the American Psychological Association and the Association for Psychological Science. As a historian of psychology, he teaches the history of psychology at the undergraduate and graduate level, and does research and writing on the rise of professional psychology in America during the 20th century.
