About the presentation:
Social networking has a long list of advantages: it enables access to a large group of people from numerous geographical regions; it reaches across several different generations; and allows a cost effective, immediate, and interactive way to engage with others. With the vast number of individuals using social media, it may not be possible to abstain from interactions that pertain to professional practice on these platforms. In this presentation, the ethical issues related to dissemination via social media will be explored for several related professions. Additionally, guidelines and suggestions as to how to avoid or resolve potential violations relating to online social behavior will be provided.
About the presenter:
Dr. Amanda N. Kelly, 2015 HABA President, received her PhD in Behavior Analysis from Simmons College and currently serves as Executive Director for Keiki Educational Consultants, Inc. She has been licensed as an elementary education teacher for the past 15 years and certified as a Behavior Analyst for the last 10. Dr. Kelly published two articles in the past year: “Effects of Presession Pairing for Children with Autism” and “Blurred Lines: Ethical Implications of Social Media.” Dr. Kelly is also a proud co-author of the 2015 Hawaii licensure for behavior analysts state law. In addition to her consulting business, Dr. Kelly works part-time as a K8 Counselor in Honolulu, as Director of the UWF Hawaii ABA Cohort, as Exam Prep Instructor for the Global Autism Project, and as ABA Marketing Liaison for Relias Learning.
