About the presentation:
HABA’s 2016 theme is pono, meaning to do what is right and give back. This talk will discuss how HABA’s legislative committee applied basic principles of behavior analysis to public policy in Hawai’i, and offer recommendations for further advancement of social issues.
Upon completion of this presentation, participants will be able to:
- Participants will be able to provide two examples of environmental modifications
- Participants will be able to list strategies for pairing with legislators
- Participants will be able to provide two examples for use of permanent products in assessing public policy
About the presenter:
Kristen Koba-Burdt is the 2016 President of the Hawai’i Association for Behavior Analysis (HABA) and serves on a variety of committees focused on improving behavior analysis in the islands. She obtained her Masters in Behavior Analysis from St. Cloud State University where she focused on autism, functional communication, and reduction of severe behavior. Her current work focuses on implementation and expansion of autism insurance reform and legislative initiatives related to behavior analysis, both locally and nationally. Kristen lives on Maui and has provided services on all major islands, working with individuals across the lifespan. She currently serves as Adjunct Professor for the University of West Florida Office of ABA-Hawai’i Cohort.
